ADIL
Adaptive dialogic reading in different settings of learning
Supporting the grammar acquisition of multilingual children through children's books with different linguistical designs
Implementation of adaptive dialogic reading in different formal and informal learning settings via trained students to support multilingual children in their language/grammar acquisition
Dialogic reading (DR) contributes to the promotion of (multilingual) children’s language (especially their grammar acquisition) and cognitive competencies. Besides, it supports their preparation for written and educational language. Thus, an adaptive (precisely fitting) elaboration of DR is important. DR in formal and informal settings (e.g. kindergarden, elementary school, day care center, early intervention, family) is the pivotof ADIL. In this context, the triad consisting of adult interaction person, child and book is focused. The books use different linguistic structures.
The following goals are pursued:
1. Conditions for success of adaptive DR will be identified based on video analyses.
2. Adaptive DR will be transferred to areas of practice. For this purpose, students of special education will be trained and supervised while implementing DR in different formal and informal settings.
3. The concept will be evaluated by formative (continuous progression of the process) and summative approaches (analysis of the students’ competencies regarding adaptive DR and of the (multilingual) children’s grammatical competencies).
Objectives
The aim of ADIL is the implementation of adaptive DR by trained students in different learning settings in order to promote multilingual children’s language/ grammar acquisition.
